Three Things

Knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are three words tightly knit throughout scripture. Do a search on your bible app and you’ll find them frequently grouped together. Each deserve a much deeper dive than I’m going to provide, and would encourage you to take that journey on your own.

It’s imperative to know not only what God said, but what He meant, and its application in our lives. To the natural man (non-spiritual) it is foolishness. To the carnal man (spiritual but immature) it will be most likely be used to gratify the desires of the flesh. But to the spiritual man (spiritual and mature) it will be used to advance the Kingdom of God on earth.

Heavenly knowledge, heavenly understanding, and heavenly wisdom come to those who fear God. (multiple verses reiterate this)

James draws a clear distinction between earthly and heavenly wisdom, and how it is predicated on the condition of the heart.

James 3:13-18 (NKJV) Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (emphasis mine)

When man learned how to split the atom, he created both nuclear energy to benefit mankind, and nuclear weapons to destroy it.

What we do with the knowledge we obtain is up to us.

It’s always a choice.
