Please don’t ask me to remind you of anything, it will not end well. I’ll forget, and the only thing you’ll remember is asking me to remind you of something we’ve now both forgotten.

My older friends frequently post memes on social media poking fun at the memory challenged. Like television commercials targeted at the elderly, they are becoming less laughable and more relatable.

They’ll joke about walking into a room and forgetting why. I on the other hand occasionally experience .08 seconds of sheer terror in Costco when I wonder if I’m actually wearing pants. (so far so good)

I’ve been told it’s wise to write things down, but tried that once and forgot where I wrote it.

Thankfully, there’s an app for that.

“Reminders” is an app on the iPhone I find very helpful. It utilizes voice recognition as well, so you can say, “Hey Siri, remind me to put on pants before I head to Costco, tomorrow morning at 8:00am.” And just like that, the only thing I flash at the Costco entrance is my membership card.

But I have to admit there are times I’ve created a shopping list in “Reminders”, only to remember on the drive home I not only forgot something, but also forgot I had a shopping list.

Thankfully Apple had the foresight to have representation for the elderly on their Research & Development Team. (my guess)

Did you know you can not only set a reminder by date, date & time, but location as well?

You can program the reminder to pop up when arriving at a specific location. So…as I pull into the parking lot at Costco, the reminder magically appears on my phone. Yeah, but what if I forget to look at my phone? Sadly, that’s not a problem.

So let’s say I need to be reminded to pick up a that new collar Sara purchased for Brooks, but I’m not sure when I’ll be driving down. I can enter the reminder today, set the location, and not worry about it. Chances are I’ll forget, but when I arrive, Brooks gets his new collar.

Pro Tip – If this feature sounds like a benefit to you, try it now before you forget.

Did you know, if you are a follower of Christ, you have this “spiritual” app?

In John 14:26, Jesus said he would send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, who would teach us all things and bring all things to remembrance. Furthermore, He will also do it based on location. The things Jesus speaks He will bring to our remembrance.

But as is the case with your iPhone app, you have to enter it first.

Put it in now, because you don’t know when or where you may need it.

And you can’t bring to remembrance something you haven’t heard.

John 14:26 (NKJV)

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Matthew 10:16-20 (NKJV) Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. 18 You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
