Lamp Unto My Feet

“How do I know where God wants me to go, and how do I get there?”

At some point in our walk with Christ, many of us ask this question.

God promises to provide the direction we seek, and as with many of his promises, it is found in His word. Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Proverbs 16:9, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

We can spend a lifetime seeking direction from other sources, never finding the place to which we’ve been called.

Walk into any bookstore and you’ll find an abundance of books designed to help you “find” yourself. Identify who you are, what you are, and where you belong. A never ending supply of authors sharing their insight, with roadmaps to your destination.

I’m not saying they are all without merit, but if the foundation of their counsel is not rooted in the Word of God, why would you take the advice of a best selling author when you can get it from the best selling Author of all time?

1 Peter 2:21 (NKJV)
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

John 8:12 (NKJV)
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
